  Susanna died as the result of complications in the birth of the twins. She is buried in the old Groffdale cemetary at the center drive, half way back on the right side; her gravestone reads as follows: Pennsylvania German Andenken von Susanna Ehefrau von Abraham Martin und Tochter von Jonas und Catherine Burkholder, gebohren den 8ten November 1828 und stab den 17ten Nov'r 1851. sie brachte ihr alter auf 23 jahre und 9 tage Translation English In memory of Susanna wife of Abraham Martin and daughter of Jonas and Catherine Burkholder, born on 8th November 1828 and died on 17th Nov'r 1851. She came to the age of 23 years and 9 days.
